About Dean

Dean here I want to take this opportunity to tell you about myself, I was born in the United Kingdom in 1961 with 1 thing missing which If you’ve seen my picture you will see that I’ve got no arms, caused by the drug Thalidomide which my mother took while pregnant with morning sickness but as you will see this has not stopped me from living a full and active life.

I went to Baginton Fields special school full of people with different types of disabilities but as I remember those days it reminds me of how difficult it was to write and concentrate at the same time, because we done things like everyone else, I got to learn how to ride horses and swim, which I got my silver life saving badge, playing football at breaktimes was the highlight for me as it gave me time to recharge my eyes because writing all day with your mouth hurts remember in those days we had no computers or electronic help with my studies. leaving school at 16 years old I had 1 GCSE in English but this was only a grade C if I remember rightly, but on my last day 1 teacher said something to me
that I would never forget and I’ll quote her: she said that I would never make anything of myself.

Those words have followed me for many years because when I left school my mother and father wanted me to attend a special college for business studies but you can imagine my thoughts why put myself through that again so I got this great idea, so I decided to become a DJ  working around the local pubs which I then carried on for over 35 yrs with a little break doing the rounds for local bands and working in studio’s etc.

Over the years I’ve owned two retail businesses, but as you might guess these failed with great consequences as I lost all my monies leaving me broke and wondering where I was going in my life I kind of started to drink 7 nights a week not knowing where my life was heading, the only thing at the time was my dog Crystal the best friend you could ever want in a German Shepherd.

All these things have not stopped me living my life and around 12 years I met a very special lady whom I call my wife Anita she has given me everything in the world our two children Aaron and Hayley I really don’t need to say much about these two but they are a bundle of energy and light up my world like everyone else’s children do.

As a family we enjoy doing things together my son and I love watching Coventry City Football Club, my daughter loves all the girlie stuff like dancing, gymnastics and she has decided that she would like to defend herself by taking up kickboxing with her brother. Anyway enough about them let’s talk about my love for Japanese koi Carp, it’s growing yearly with their beauty and grace, in which time I’ve had over 5 different ponds going up in size every time in stocked with over 30 koi ranging in sizes and colour to enjoy in the summer months, but here is where I say goodbye for now but be sure to come back and watch this space for more info about me as I grow older and wiser.
